BRAND REFRESH & NEW LOGO

New Look, Same Us, Same Great Product, Same Great Staff!

We thought we’d peal back the curtain and tell you the story of our brand refresh. It all started with the van!

We purchased a new delivery van and we needed a design on the van. But we didn’t just want something that only said our company name - wanted someting fresh and bold.

Enter Benjamin Burch of Burchwork Studios. Benjamin had been coming into our coffeehouse almost daily for most of the winter of 2023 spending hours, if not most of the day working at his laptop. The entire staff got to know him by name and a little bit of his story. Turns out he is a graphic & animation designer and his projects include highly respected household names (shall I mention Disney).

One day as I was walking by, I noticed a poster that he was working on which totally caught my attention - it reminded me of Palm Springs. I am from California and grew up just over the San Jacinto mountains from Palm Springs. Turns out, it was a poster for an event he was attending in Palm Springs. We got to chatting about how we needed a wrap design for our van. I asked him if he’d ever designed a van wrap and he said no, but he was up for the challenge! A few days later a deal was struck. A few weeks later, we had our first design draft.

The design brief was simple: (1) It needed to take into account our vibe of beach & surf, and (2) the design needed to be eye catching, so that when people saw the van they know it was Three Fins Coffee. That was it, we gave him full creative carte blanche.

He nailed it! We couldn’t be happier.

So how does that relate to a brand refresh? Benjamin’s design incorporated a bolder font and new suftboard design which is more colorful and fun. We had been thinking about a logo and font change for a while, but we never had the time to give it the focus it needed. So this kinda just fell in our lap - serendipity you might say. We knew this was the design and that now was the time! It’s nice when the stars align and things like this happens in life.

And that is the story of how the van changed our branding and packaging design!
